Andrew P. Kwong, OD

Dr. Andrew P. Kwong is a residency-trained optometrist who has provided outstanding medical eye care to Southern Nevada residents since joining New Eyes in 2017. He specializes in the diagnosis and management of cataracts and glaucoma, and is experienced in treating diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and other ocular pathologies. Working closely with the surgical team at New Eyes, he guides patients through cataract evaluation, surgical referral, and post-operative care, and provides ongoing monitoring and treatment for patients with glaucoma.

Born and raised in San Jose, California, Dr. Kwong earned his B.S. in General Biology from the University of California, San Diego, then completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry, graduating with Beta Sigma Kappa honors in 2016. His optometric education covered all aspects of ocular disease and post-surgical management, including externships at the Veterans Affairs Hospitals in Palo Alto and San Jose.

Dr. Kwong went on to complete an advanced residency in Primary Care and Ocular Disease at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System Hospital in North Las Vegas. Providing comprehensive eye exams for veterans instilled a lasting respect and appreciation for his patients, and his residency sharpened the medical training he brings to every exam today.

Dr. Kwong has a long record as an educator. He served as a teaching assistant for first-year statistics as an undergraduate and as a graduate student instructor in optometry school. During his residency, he served as a Clinical Attending educating rotating fourth-year optometry students and lectured at Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry.
